Do you have a great idea for a short story or novel
but don't know how to get started? This one-day workshop will teach you the
basic fiction writing techniques the professionals use. You will learn how to
plot a good story, create interesting characters, write believable dialogue,
and overcome the terror of the blank page. We will also discussion submission
procedures and marketing your work. There will be a short break after the first
two hours if you wish to grab a quick snack. A $2.00 supply fee for resource materials and handouts is to be paid to
instructor at the start of class.

This is an interactive writing workshop for those
who want to improve their craft. We will cover such topics as point-of-view,
character development, creating story arc, writing believable dialogue, and
more. Please bring a loose-leaf binder and eleven copies of written work to
share for critique. The written work should be 10-15 pages, double-spaced, 12
point font, and printed on one side of the page only. Class size is limited to
10 students, and each writer will receive a 40-minute personal critique in
class.There is a $2.00 supply fee payable to instructor for resource materials and handouts.

Gassman
Jeanne Lyet Gassman is an award-winning
author and instructor whose fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry has been
published in magazines, newspapers, and anthologies. She holds an MFA in
writing from VermontCollege of Fine
Arts and is the recipient of an Encouragement Award in Writing from the Arizona
Commission on the Arts. In addition to her writing, Jeanne teaches writing
classes and workshops in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Recent class offerings
